Agricultural Crown Land Lease Auction

Start Feb 24 @ 09:00 AM
End Feb 28 @ 05:00 PM

GENERAL INFORMATION: 2025 ACL Lease and Permit Auction

The Agricultural Crown Land Leases and Permits Regulation requires that allocation of agricultural Crown land (ACL) leases and renewable permits be by public auction. A public auction streamlines and simplifies the application process, leads to more transparency and fewer appeals, and is a fair and market-driven method of allocation leases and renewable permits.

The Auction Process:

  • The registration and lease/permit auction process is administered by Garton’s Auction Service.
  • The auction website will display available parcels for one week prior to the start of the scheduled auction.
  • Potential bidders will complete the online registration process, including a declaration of eligibility.
  • The auction website will list the auction rules and examples for live bidding practice as Lot #003 and Lot #004.

Types of Leases available:

  • CROPPING LEASE: The lease is for a five (5) year term. The bidding will start at $200 plus the minimum rental amount, and the successful bidder will earn the right to lease the land and set the annual rental amount via the auction bid.

Bid increment of $100 for all lots.

ONLINE ONLY BIDDING . This is a soft close auction. Starting at 5:00 pm on February 28, 2025 – One item will close every minute. When a lot is within 5 minutes of closing and a bid is received the end time will be extended by 5 minutes from that time. This will continue until there has been no bid on that lot received for 5 minutes.  Example, Lot# 11 closes at 5:11 pm, but if a bid is received on that lot at 5:09 PM the closing will be adjusted to 5:14 pm. If another bid is received at 5:13 pm the closing is adjusted to 5:18 pm. This continues until there has been no bid received for 5 full minutes. There is no advantage to waiting to snipe a bid at the last second and this practice may even lead to losing a lot due to a slow internet connection.
